The Good, The Bad, and the Plan
IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR COACHES
Dear Valued Coaches,
On December 31st, 2020, I sent a communication to coaches about our 2021 Spring League plan. If you haven’t read it, you can find it here.
In the 2 weeks since that communication, here is what has happened.
First, we have received an overwhelming response from coaches to facilitate Spring League Session 1 rides. We weren’t quite expecting this many coaches to have an interest in riding in January, as most of our teams don’t typically start riding until February or later. Furthermore, a large number of forms were submitted in the past 2-3 days. YIKES!
Second, due to the pandemic and our new program structure, there is about 3x as much administrative work to coordinate the ride schedule with all the teams and groups, and venues. Additionally, some of the land managers/agencies that require permits are working on a limited basis so the process of obtaining permits is taking longer.
Lastly, some coaches scheduled team coach calls and didn’t make the scheduled call. Unfortunately, we are now left with lots of questions from coaches rending them less prepared to launch.
I want to emphasize that the League is 100% committed to getting as many kids riding as possible and as soon as possible. The timeframe of outgoing communications from us is admittedly challenging for everyone. So for all coaches that responded in the past few days, just know that we understand. Thus, we have made the decision to postpone Session 1 of the 2021 Spring League program for 1 week.
The new Spring League schedule is as follows:
Session 1: January 25 to March 7
Session 2: March 8 – April 18
Session 3: April 26 – June 6

NEXT STEPS – THE PLAN
8am tomorrow is the cutoff for coach interest forms in order to be considered for Session 1. Over the weekend we will be finalizing the ride schedule and communicating with head coaches.
Registration for coaches will open no later than Monday, January 18th.
We will open up registration to students on Wednesday, January 20th but sending head coaches the registration code. Keep in mind that spots are limited. Coaches will be responsible for communications to students and distributing the registration code. NOTE: the fall pilot program student registration sold out in 14 minutes!
In the meantime, stay safe and get out and ride!
