What is the MTB Equity Coach Coalition?

The MTB Equity Coach Coalition, formed in 2020 by mountain bike skills coaches and organizations from around the world in order to join forces to make mountain biking a more inclusive sport. Acknowledging that Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) are not adequately represented in mountain biking, the Coach Coalition is undertaking a global fundraising campaign until the end of 2020 to raise funds to be put to use in creating more opportunities for BIPOC participation in cycling.

Funds will be used to cover the costs of inviting 1,000 people who are BIPOC to try out mountain biking in 2021, through participation in skills camps, clinics, and other programs, as well as towards other related efforts that will be identified in conversations and partnerships between Coalition coaches and BIPOC members in their respective communities.

How can you support the MTB Equity Coach Coalition?

Each participating coach or organization is accepting tax deductible donations to cover the costs of BIPOC students in their programs; the total number of participants will be determined on the total amount of funds that are raised. We need each other and our communities need us!

To help with this effort, the Be Good Foundation has created this fundraising platform to enable supporters the option of either selecting a coaching program or multiple programs to contribute directly to or to donate to a General Fund which will be evenly distributed across all Coalition coaches. The General Fund is raising monies to cover direct costs associated with the coaching programs listed in this Coalition as well as other related efforts that will be identified and developed in collaborations between participating coaches and members of the BIPOC communities.

Areas where your donation will be targeted include BIPOC student participation fees, loaner bikes and gear, transportation to and from the skills instruction clinics, snacks for participants, stipends for BIPOC guest instructors, administration and management of the overall effort of our coalition coaching programs, and possible other related efforts that will be developed over the coming months.

As a donor, what happens next?

Your donation will help train and empower new bicycle riders by providing them the skills and confidence to ride safely and enjoy the power of the bicycle for recreation, health, transportation and sport. As a supporter, you will receive an email acknowledging your tax deductible contribution and you will be provided an opportunity to opt in to receive periodic updates on how your support has been put to use.
