This essay is an opportunity increase awareness of the positive affects of mountain biking and the Washington Student League Program. It is also an opportunity for our students to to inspire and empower other students and adults.

ESSAY QUESTION
How has mountain biking and the Washington Student League impacted your life, and why is this bike so important to you?

ELIGIBILITY
Open to all currently registered student-athletes in the the Washington Student League.

PRIZE DESCRIPTION
The winner will receive a new 2012 Trek Mamba mountain bike, size 17.5″. Specifications here.

HOW TO ENTER
This essay contest begins on Friday April 26, 2013 and ends on Sunday May 12, 2013 at 5pm.

Essay must be 400 words or more. To enter, please submit your essay here. Entries must be received no later than May 12, 2013 by 5pm. The WSL is not responsible for lost, late or incomplete entries. By entering, Entrant warrants that his or her entry (1) is original and does not infringe the intellectual-property rights of any third party, (2) has not been published in any medium, and (3) has not won an award.

JUDGING
All entries will be judged by a panel formed specifically for this essay contest. The panel is comprised of a Washington Student League representative, a Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance representative, a private donor, a WSL coach, a WSL parent, and two Washington Student League student-athletes. The student-athletes on the judging panel are not eligible to enter the essay contest. The winner will be announced at the last race on May 19, 2013.

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
No transfer, assignment, or substitution of a prize permitted. By entering, Entrant represents that his/her essay, etc., and other materials submitted as part of Entrant’s contest entry are the original work of Entrant. In addition, by entering, Entrant grants to the Washington Student League and its affiliates the right to edit, publish, promote, and republish at any time in the future and otherwise use Entrant’s submitted essay, along with Entrant’s name, likeness, statements, biographical information, and any other information provided by Entrant, in any and all media for possible editorial, promotional, or advertising purposes, without further permission, notice, or compensation (except where prohibited by law).
