Volunteer Mark Lambie

Name: Mark Lambie
City: University Place
# of years with League: 7

Describe your volunteer role:
I’m one of the many hands in the background. I help with getting the equipment to and from the race venue, setup, fill-in as needed, walk around trying to sample the good food the teams make, tear down, and packing the trailer.

How did you start volunteering?
Steve made me.

What do you like best about it?
I like what the League is doing for the students of Washington state. Anytime we can get more students on bikes its great.

What’s the hardest or most challenging part about it?
The hardest part is tear down, mostly because we are fussy about how things go back into the trailer. And as Eric learned, loading the trailer is an art.

What’s been an inspiring moment for you?
I enjoy how the teams help each other and everyone is so supportive.

How have you seen the mission fulfilled through your work?
I’m just a tree in the background, the coaches are doing the great work with and for the students.

Why do you think this program is important for students?
It provides them additional options to grow as students and other life options.

How has volunteering impacted you and/or the rest of your life?
How could you not feel great seeing the smiles on the students as concur each course?

What advice would you give to someone considering becoming a volunteer?
It’s great, join us.

What’s one word that describes your experience with the League?
Fun.
